Nepal’s rebel chief blasts govt request for UN help on arms issue
Nepal’s Maoist rebel chief Prachanda has strongly objected to a letter sent this month by the government to the United Nations, requesting help with arms monitoring and decommissioning. In a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Prachanda expressed the rebels’ “strong protest and disagreement” with the government missive, claiming it was in “utter violation” of the spirit of ongoing peace talks.
