At least two civilians were shot dead in Sri Lanka’s troubled north as a Swedish envoy met with Tamil Tiger rebels to try to save a collapsing ceasefire, officials said. Unidentified gunmen killed the Tamil civilians early Friday while a government soldier was wounded in a mine attack in the district of Vavuniya, also in the north, defence ministry officials said on Friday.
