Car bombing in Iraq kills 43, injures 64

A suicide car bomber drove up to a crowd of Shiite day laborers, lured some into his minivan with a promise of jobs, then blew the vehicle up, officials said. At least 43 people were killed and 64 wounded in Tuesday’s attack in southern Iraq. The bomb went off about 7:30 a.m. across the street from a major Shiite shrine in the city of Kufa, a twin city of Najaf about 100 miles south of Baghdad, police Capt. Nafie Mohammed said.
