Prime Minister Tony Blair has warned that Britain’s mission to bring security to southern Afghanistan was going to be tough because troops were deploying in a particularly restive region for the first time. Speaking just hours before his government is expected to reveal a package of reinforcements for its 3,300-strong force, largely in Helmand province, Blair underlined the importance of success in the country for global peace.
