Iraq has released 500 detainees from the infamous Abu Ghraib prison, the fifth batch of security suspects to be freed as part of reconciliation moves ordered by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. “Till now 2,300 detainees have been released since June 7,” Lieutenant Colonel Keir-Kevin Curry, spokesman for US-run detainee operations told AFP.
