Congo’s armed forces and police are responsible for the majority of documented abuses against children in the chaotic country, sometimes abducting kids to carry equipment or for sex, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said in a report Tuesday. The report documented 29 abductions from July 2005 to May 2006, mainly by Congolese forces. The cases included five girls taken by a captain in the federal armed forces as he moved through the volatile South Kivu area in eastern Congo. Full Story
