Three Iraqi men suspected of plotting to kill then Iraqi prime minister Iyad Allawi on a visit to Germany two years ago went on trial charged with belonging to a terror group. Federal prosecutors say the defendants are members of the Iraqi militant organization Ansar al-Islam and conspired to assassinate Allawi in a plan hatched only days before his brief stay in Berlin in December 2004.
