Prime Minister John Howard has said he will tell the Indonesian president in an upcoming meeting of Australian anger over the release of radical Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir. The alleged spiritual chief of the militant Islamic group Jemaah Islamiyah was freed last week after serving less than 26 months for conspiracy over the 2002 Bali bombings which killed 202 people, including 88 Australians. “I will be communicating to the president in person the anger of the Australian community, particularly those associated with people who died in Bali in 2002,” Howard said in a television interview.
