India’s federal government will hold fresh talks with representatives of a powerful northeastern rebel group aimed at ending three decades of bloodshed, an official said. Interior Minister Shivraj Patil will lead the talks with 11 peace emissaries of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), which has been fighting for an independent homeland for Assam since 1979, the government official said.
