Indian troops shot dead eight Muslim rebels along the de facto border dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the army said. The rebels were killed in northern Machil sector after they crossed the Line of Control — a demarcation that divides Kashmir between the two nuclear-armed rivals, Indian army spokesman Vijay Batra told AFP on Tuesday. “All eight were killed along a barbed fence erected to stop infiltration of rebels into our territory,” Batra said in the summer capital Srinagar.
