Dissident Darfur rebels rebuff AU peace accord, call for fresh UN mediation

A dissident faction of the main Darfur rebel group said the African Union (AU) had failed in its efforts to broker an end to a devastating conflict in the western Sudan region and called on the United Nations to take over mediation efforts. The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) faction led by Abdel Wahed Mohamed al-Nur said it had rejected the whole peace agreement after AU mediators failed to include its demands. Full Story
