East Timor government show signs of strain
East Timor’s government showed signs of unraveling Tuesday, as desperate residents scuffled over scarce food in the capital and looters defied foreign peacekeepers sent to restore order. During a second day of emergency meetings to find a way out of the crisis, Cabinet decided to fire Defense Minister Rogerio Lobato, said Joao Saldanha, a Cabinet member.
