Taliban ambush, kidnap and execute Afghan police
Three Taliban fighters and one Afghan policeman were killed in a clash southwest of Kabul on Sunday, a day after three other police were kidnapped and executed by insurgents, police said. Nearly 300 people have been killed in battles, ambushes and bombings since last week, according to U.S. military and Afghan officials, and the country is going through its most violent period since U.S.-backed Afghan forces ousted a Taliban government in late 2001.
