A group of armed men have attacked and seized two military bases near the remote north-eastern Malian town of Kidal, witnesses say. A local journalist said the men, wearing turbans and driving pick-up trucks, had also taken control of the town but this has not been confirmed. It is not clear if there are any casualties but an officer said he had heard shooting. Tuareg rebels used to be active in the area but signed a peace deal in 1998. Full Story
