Afghan authorities have refused to confirm if they had captured top Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah as a man claiming to be the fighter reportedly said he was alive and leading an invigorated insurgency. Authorities announced Friday they had captured a “very important” Taliban commander after a major battle in Kandahar province last week.
