Australia police chief warns over unstable neighbours
The head of the Australian Federal Police, Mick Keelty, says Australia’s ongoing security could be compromised if nothing is done to help weak and unstable nations in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. Commissioner Keelty says the AFP needs to examine whether recent outbreaks of violence in the Solomons Islands were instigated by other nations, like China or Taiwan. He says organised crime groups tend to set up operations in weak and vulnerable countries because they can exploit social, political and economic instability. Full Story
