Head of London mosque welcomes Moussaoui jail sentence
The chairman of the London mosque where Zacarias Moussaoui first worshipped when he came to Britain expressed relief that the Al-Qaeda conspirator had escaped the death sentence. Abdul Haq Baker, of the Brixton mosque in south London, welcomed the ruling by a jury in the US state of Virginia on Wednesday to send him to prison for life, saying he believed that Moussaoui had deliberately sought the death penalty. Asked on BBC radio how he felt about the ruling, Baker said: “I think one of relief for the simple reason he will not achieve martyr status according to his erroneous belief.” Full Story
