Lithuania hosts summit to plot eastward path of EU, NATO
The former Soviet republic of Lithuania was to host its most important event since joining the EU and NATO two years ago with a summit meeting to chart the eastward paths of the two blocs. Among world leaders due to attend the summit in Vilnius were heads of state of EU members countries, future EU members Bulgaria and Romania and the fledgling democracies of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and US Vice President Dick Cheney were also expected to attend. Full Story
