Muslim separatists were to hold fresh peace talks with India’s premier on the future of Kashmir after 35 Hindus were massacred in an apparent attempt to thwart the meeting. The talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and moderate leaders of the Hurriyat or “Freedom” alliance will be the second since he took office two years ago. They come after suspected Islamist militants gunned down 35 Hindu villagers in Kashmir on Sunday in the worst such massacre since 2000. Full Story
