Iraq’s once powerful Sunni Arabs are seeking sweeping changes in the country’s constitution, including scrapping federalism, when parliament officially convenes for the first time since it was elected in December. “We want to change the constitution,” said Zhafer al-Ani, spokesman for the Sunni-led National Concord Front, a major parliamentary bloc in the 275-member Iraqi parliament. “The present constitution smells of sectarianism and we are trying to change it so it can be a national constitution representing all Iraqis.” Full Story
