Conservatives up military spending
The minority Conservative government promised on Tuesday to build on already substantial military spending increases booked by the previous Liberal government. The federal budget promised C$1.1 billion ($1 billion) in new spending over the coming two fiscal years on top of existing plans. A government official said it would raise spending to about C$16.0 billion in the fiscal year that starts next April from about C$13.4 billion in 2005-06. Full Story
