Myanmar’s military regime is trying to intimidate dozens of members of the pro-democracy party led by Aung San Suu Kyi into resigning, an official said. “Local authorities are using threats as well as enticements to wean them away from the party,” said Win Mya Mya, the regional leader of the National League for Democracy in the central city of Mandalay. “The numbers are negligible and officials are only targeting those with either a health problem or those facing a financial crisis,” she told AFP.
