The death toll from sectarian riots in the western Indian state of Gujarat climbed to five when one person died of injuries suffered in clashes over the demolition of a Muslim shrine, police said. “The death toll has gone to five today (Tuesday) as another person died,” said Deepak Swarup, police chief of Vadodara (formerly known as Baroda) in Gujarat.
