A bomb exploded near a convoy of foreign troops traveling a highway in southern Afghanistan on Monday, injuring two soldiers and destroying their vehicle, a military official said. The bomb was planted west of Kandahar in the district of Maiwand on the road leading to the western city of Herat, said Maj. Quentin Innis, a Canadian military spokesman for coalition forces in the region. The soldiers, riding in a convoy of coalition and Afghan army troops, were taken to a military base in Kandahar; their wounds were not life-threatening, he said.
