President George W. Bush issued an executive order on Thursday freezing the assets of anyone deemed to have posed a threat to the peace process or stability in Sudan’s Darfur region. Bush said he was taking the action because “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States is posed by the persistence of violence in Sudan’s Darfur region, particularly against civilians.” Full Story
