China held out a clutch of potential economic agreements with Taiwan on Saturday at the end of a meeting in Beijing intended to court Taiwanese opinion ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to Washington. China’s offers of aviation, agricultural and finance deals with the self-ruled island came in a statement after a two-day forum between Chinese Communist officials and Taiwan opposition parties, which favor closer ties with the mainland. “We must strive to normalize, regularize and stabilize cross-strait economic relations,” Chen Yunlin, the chief of the Chinese Communist Party’s Taiwan Work Office, told the meeting on Saturday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060415/wl_nm/china_taiwan_dc_1;_ylt=AqA9hfoGies40nuKKqp9.ZJPzWQA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl
