Former President Alan Garcia held a razor-thin lead Wednesday over an ex-Congresswoman for the run-off spot against former army commander Ollanta Humala in Peru’s presidential election. With slightly more than 88 percent of the votes counted from Sunday’s election, Humala was ahead with 31 percent of the tally. Garcia, whose 1985-1990 tenure was marked by economic disarray and an insurgency, had 24.4 percent, and Lourdes Flores had 23.3 percent. Full Story
