Claim spy ‘killed to avenge IRA killing’
The double agent in the ranks of Northern Ireland’s main Catholic party may have been killed to avenge the death of an IRA gunman shot by the British nearly 20 years ago, it was claimed. Quoting “authoratitive security service sources”, Britain’s domestic Press Association news agency said former Sinn Fein official Denis Donaldson may have been murdered in retaliation for the death of Jim Lynagh in May 1987.
