Egyptian authorities Sunday ordered a politician and his supporters held for questioning for four days on suspicion of crimes including attempted murder when they occupied the offices of the party he used to lead. “The office of the attorney general decided to detain Noman Gomaa, deputy Ahmad Nasser, his son Ashraf and 12 other individuals for a period of four days,” the official said on condition of anonymity. Their detention is renewable for 15 days, after which the suspects will face trial, the official added. The 15 Egyptians stand accused of “incitement to murder, arson, damage to property, carrying firearms illegally and incitement to public disorder,” the security official said. Full Story
