A security threat shut down the U.S. Consulate in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Tuesday. U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Nida Emmons said the consulate was closed until further notice because of a ”specific, credible” threat. She declined to discuss the nature of the threat but said the consulate and Pakistani authorities were cooperating to increase security.
