Israelis voted Tuesday in a historic election seen as a referendum on the future of the West Bank, with the leading candidate, acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, promising to pull back from most of the territory and draw Israel’s final borders by 2010. On Tuesday, two people were killed in an explosion in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip border, casting a pall over nationwide elections. Israel’s national rescue service said an adult and child were killed in the blast, which occurred near the agricultural community of Nahal Oz.
