Hamas government may see decline in attacks: Israel chief of staff
Israel’s chief of staff Dan Halutz acknowledged that the incoming Palestinian government led by radical Islamist movement Hamas may see a decline in militant attacks. “The formation of a government led by Hamas will not necessarily lead to an increase in terrorism, perhaps even the contrary,” he said in comments carried by army radio. “They (Hamas) want to prove their corporate image is unjustified,” added the chief of staff. “We need to wait and see how Hamas will behave,” he was reported as saying by the radio.
