The EU is to impose sanctions against Belarus over its “fundamentally flawed” elections that returned President Alexander Lukashenko to office. EU leaders, meeting in Brussels, also condemned an overnight crackdown against opposition protesters in Minsk, where about 150 people were arrested. Opponents have accused the government of vote rigging and international observers said the poll was unreliable. However, Belarus officials insist that last Sunday’s vote was democratic. Full Story
