Bahrain plans to ban protests in certain areas
A government draft submitted to the parliament this week bans demonstrations, marches or rallies near hospitals, airports, malls, diplomatic missions, international organisations, main avenues and restricted areas. The draft which supplants an earlier proposal that the government has now withdrawn is an amended version of the 1973 Assembly Law. “The government has revoked the new draft from the parliament in response to requests,” State Minister for Parliament Abdul Aziz Al Fadhel told parliament without elaborating.
