President Bush acknowledged yesterday that since the invasion of Iraq the US military had, “through trial and error”, been forced to adopt a new approach towards an unexpectedly brutal enemy. The President said that he understood why many Americans had had their confidence in the war shaken after watching scenes of carnage on television.
