Jordan’s state security court handed out reduced jail sentences to seven Jordanians accused of recruiting militants to fight US forces in Iraq, a judicial source said. Alleged ringleader Ziad Horani and co-defendant Khaled Sarqush received each five years of hard labour which were reduced to four “in order to give them a chance to improve themselves”, the source said. Four suspects were sentenced each to five years which were reduced to three for the same motive, while the last suspect on trial here since last year saw his jail sentenced reduced to 20 months from three years and four months.
