Ports flap not seen harming most US defense ties
Controversy over the management of U.S. ports amid security concerns is unlikely to change a trend toward closer integration of U.S. and European defense companies, U.S. defense analysts said this week, calling the flap unfortunate. Dubai Ports World, owned by the United Arab Emirates, last week said it would transfer operations of six U.S. port terminals to a U.S. entity. It was bowing to political pressure from the U.S. Congress, where many lawmakers said they worried the deal could provide an avenue for extremist attacks. Full Story
