Italy reacted coolly Friday to claims by Libyan leader Moumar Kadhafi that rioters who sacked the Italian consulate in Benghazi two weeks ago had wanted to kill the consul because Libyans “hate” Italians. Kadhafi also threatened fresh attacks on Italians if Libya’s historic claim for damages for decades of Italian colonisation went unheeded.
