An Islamist militant leader blamed for a string of deadly blasts across Bangladesh surrendered on Thursday after a house he was hiding in was besieged by security forces for over 24 hours, officials said. They said Shayek Abdur Rahman gave himself up in the northeastern city of Sylhet and was whisked away to the capital, Dhaka, for interrogation. “Shayek Abdur Rahman along with two of his associates have come out of hiding and surrendered,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Nurul Momen of the elite Rapid Action Battalion.
