Iraqi PM Ibrahim al-Jaafari and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan are due to meet in Ankara to discuss Iraq’s escalation of violence. The BBC’s Sarah Rainsford in Istanbul says Turkey fears civil war in Iraq and the country’s potential disintegration, and is attempting to mediate directly.
