Politicians and relatives of kidnapping victims took time to remember former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt on Thursday, the fourth anniversary of her kidnapping by Colombia’s leftist FARC guerrillas. Since her kidnapping, Betancourt has become a symbol of the hardships unleashed by the four-decades-old war between the FARC — the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia — and the government.
