Thai authorities have warned of more violence after a government critic’s office was bombed ahead of a new mass rally Sunday against Prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. A bomb blast outside the offices of the Santi Asoke group, a Buddhist sect which has joined the call for Thaksin’s resignation, was the first violence in weeks of demonstrations against the premier. Thaksin is under pressure to quit over an array of complaints, including allegations of wrongdoing in the sale of his family’s share of the Shin Corp empire to his handling of the Islamic insurgency in southern Thailand. Authorities say more incidents could happen as tens of thousands of Thaksin opponents are expected to converge on Bangkok Sunday for the third protest this month. Full Story
