Israeli soldiers shot dead two Palestinian militants on Monday in the West Bank city of Nablus during an arrest raid for wanted gunmen, Palestinian medics said. An Israeli army spokesman said troops searching for militants in the area identified several gunman and shot at them, hitting at least one. Witnesses said a clash had broken out at the time of the shooting, but the spokesman denied this. On Sunday, Israeli forces shot dead two Palestinians in Balata refugee camp, a militant stronghold near Nablus, during a stone-throwing confrontation that erupted as they searched for wanted gunmen.
