Yemeni authorities charged three journalists with denigrating Islam on Wednesday after closing their newspapers for republishing satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad. Prosecutors demanded the journalists be jailed for a year or pay a fine of 10,000 rials ($51.10). “These journalists have published the cartoons that insulted Islam,” a prosecutor told the court.
