In Lebanon, a bomb ripped through the car of an outspoken journalist, killing him. In Libya, the body of a missing journalist turned up with a gunshot wound to the head. In Yemen and Egypt, the cases of two journalists who were briefly abducted remain unresolved. These were some of the examples listed by the Committee to Protect Journalists in their annual Attacks on the Press report. 2005 was a year “in which journalists in the Middle East endured violent attacks as never before,” Joel Campagna, senior program coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, wrote in the report released Tuesday.
