Portuguese police said today they had detained an Islamic extremist who is one of the Netherland’s most wanted men because of his suspected links to terrorist activities. The unidentified man had taken part in a terrorist training camp in Yemen and is thought to have had contacts with the alleged network of terrorists known as the “Hofstad” group, police said in a statement. He was one of three men detained in Portugal over the past week who are wanted in the Netherlands in connection with a shooting late last year at a Rotterdam nightclub which left three people dead and another three seriously injured.
