U.S. Assures Switzerland Over Air Space

he U.S. has assured Switzerland it did not use Swiss air space or airports to move suspected terrorists, authorities said Wednesday. The European Parliament has been investigating allegations, first reported in The Washington Post, that the CIA hid and interrogated key al-Qaida suspects at Soviet-era compounds in Eastern Europe. Switzerland asked the U.S. whether Swiss territory was used for detainee transfers and delayed renewing U.S. authorization to use its airspace until it received an answer, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said.
