Three bombs exploded in Thailand’s restive Muslim south on Thursday, killing three people and wounding six, police and hospital staff said. The first bomb, estimated to weigh at least 11 lbs and hidden in a truck’s fuel tank, was thought to be triggered by mobile phone as it entered the city hall compound of the violence-prone district of Joh Airong, police said. The explosion threw the driver, a Muslim village chief who was due to attend a monthly meeting with his bosses at the city hall, out of the truck alive but killed and charred his two assistants instantly, they said.
