Toll rises to 11 in Maoist attack in eastern India
The death toll in a rebel attack on tribal people and retaliatory police firing in eastern India has risen to 11, with four civilians dying in hospital, a senior minister said on Tuesday. Eight civilians and three rebels have died following the raid on a government relief camp for tribals in a remote area of the mineral-rich eastern state of Chhattisgarh late on Sunday. The toll could go up as 12 tribals and four policemen were battling for life in hospital with serious bullet wounds, state interior minister Ramvichar Netam told Reuters. Full Story
