Abu Hamza al-Masri, the one-eyed, hook-handed Muslim cleric accused of race hate and inciting murder in Britain, was called in court a “recruiting sergeant” for terrorism and murder. Prosecutor David Perry told the jury at London’s Central Criminal Court Hamza used “the most dangerous weapons available — a great religion, Islam, his position as a civic leader and the power of words, his own words”. “Not only that, you may also think he betrayed his true nature and his own recognition of the fact that in his talks he was preaching terrorism, homicidal violence and hatred,” Perry said in his closing remarks in the case on Friday.
